Case of the Month
Gingival Hyperpigmentation

The normal color of the gingiva or gums is Coral Pink but Black or Brown pigmentation is a common occurrence that prevents us from Smiling often.

This Hyperpigmentation maybe since birth or may develop later on during teenage leading to esthetic compromise on the Million Dollar Smile.

It’s the same melanin pigment as in the case of skin, excess of which leads to darker gums.

It may be caused due to some known medications as well.

In the following photos, the Patient consulted in our OPD with a chief complaint of Brown pigmented gums and wanted treatment for the same.
